  49. 1) Installing and playing Golden Tee Golf Demo
  50.  
  51.    a) Installation
  52.     Run the self-extracting zip file. This will set up 
  53.     Golden Tee Golf in the C:\Gtgdemo directory. Of course 
  54.     you may have it place the files wherever you like.
  55.    
  56.    b) Running the Demo
  57.     Once installed, you can run the demo by double clicking 
  58.     on the gtdemo.exe file in the Gtgdemo folder. Again, the 
  59.     default location is C:\Gtgdemo but, if you chose a 
  60.     different location, look there.

  62.   c) Starting a round of Golf
  63.     Once you get past the opening screens, you will come to
  64.     a screen called "How Many Players". From here you may 
  65.     start a 1, 2, 3, or 4-player game. You may also start 
  66.     up a game against a shadow player. (See shadow players)

  68. 2) Game play Issues
  69.    
  70.    a) Demo Speed/Resolution Issues
  71.        Golden Tee Golf is meant to be played with a high frame 
  72.     rate. If you experience choppy animation, you are not 
  73.     getting the best experience possible.  To increase the 
  74.     performance of this demo, there are several things you 
  75.     do from the "Game Settings" screen.
  76.         * Lower the resolution (Screen Mode)
  77.         * Turn off the (Fog)
  78.         * Turn off the (Screen Softness)
  79.         * Turn off the (Full Screen Approach) cam 
  80.           * Turn off the (Picture in Picture) cam
  81.     Of course if you have the horsepower, turn these options 
  82.     on, and up as desired.

  84.    b) Control Issues
  85.     The mouse controls the golfer's swing. How you 
  86.     control the mouse affects how the ball is hit. For a 
  87.     tutorial of the different swings available, refer to
  88.     the help screens.  From within the demo press the [Esc]
  89.     key to bring up the option screen. From there select 
  90.     "help" to bring up the help window.

  109.    d) Joystick 
  110.     There is no need for Joystick support in Golden Tee 
  111.     Golf. Everything can be controlled with the keyboard 
  112.     and mouse.
  113.  
  114.    e) Sound issues
  115.     This demo requires Direct X 5.0 or higher, without 
  116.     up to date drivers, the demo may not work properly.
  117.     If you are having audio problems, and you have Direct
  118.     X 5.0 installed, you should contact your audio card
  119.     manufacturer.
  120.     This demo is a work in progress and does contain
  121.     some sound problems which we are currently working on.
  122.     These includes:
  123.         
  124.         * Some of the sounds cutting out. (the 
  125.           announcer, the sound effects, or the 
  126.           ambient sounds)
  127.         * Some of the sound effects may have a 
  128.           looping problem. This is where part
  129.           of a sound is replayed over and over.
  130.  
  131.    f) Video Issues
  132.     This demo requires Direct X 5.0 or higher, without 
  133.     up to date drivers, the demo may not work properly.
  134.     If you are having video problems, and you have Direct
  135.     X 5.0 installed, you should contact your video card
  136.     manufacturer.

  138. 3) Options and Game settings
  139.     
  140.    a) Options Menu
  141.     From within the demo you may open the Options menu by 
  142.     either clicking on the options button located on the
  143.     bottom center of the screen, or by hitting the Esc key.
  144.  
  145.    b) Game Settings
  146.     This will bring up a menu so that you may customize the
  147.     demo to your preferred settings.  
  148.     Skill Level, Fog Density, Camera options, and Resolution.
  149.  
  150.    c) Help
  151.     This will bring up a small window that shows you how to 
  152.     use the mouse with the demo. Here you can find out how 
  153.     to make those more difficult shots.
  154.  
  155.    d) Highlights
  156.     This will play back the greatest shots currently saved.
  157.     The demo will automatically prompt you to save any great 
  158.     shots made.
  159.     
  160.    e) Restart Course
  161.     This will let you restart the current game with the
  162.     same number of players on the same course.
  163.  
  164.    f) New Game
  165.     This will let you go back to the setup screen so you
  166.     can select another course or number of players.
  167.    
  168.    g) Quit
  169.     This will let one or more players quit the demo. If 
  170.     there is only one player left in the game, this will
  171.     quit the game and return the player to the Windows 95
  172.     desktop.

  174.    h) Play Alone
  175.     This is a networking feature and will not be active 
  176.     for this demo.      
  177.  
  178. 4) Shadow Players
  179.     Golden Tee Golf will record your game as you play.
  180.     At the end of the course, you will have the option
  181.     of saving your performance as a shadow game. You 
  182.     will then be able to replay that game as a second 
  183.     player. The recorded performance will play along 
  184.     side the active player. To play against a shadow
  185.     game, select "Shadow Games" from the "How Many
  186.     Players" screen, then highlight a shadow game by 
  187.     clicking on it, then load it by clicking on the
  188.     "Load" button.  (For this demo the delete feature
  189.     is not functional)
  190.     
  191. 5) Multi-player Games
  192.     This 3-hole playable demo does not support multi-player
  193.     games over a network.  You can, however, play up to 4 
  194.     players on the same machine.  The full release version 
  195.     does have network play capability over an internet or 
  196.     local area network.
