- 1) Installing and playing Golden Tee Golf Demo
-
- a) Installation
- Run the self-extracting zip file. This will set up
- Golden Tee Golf in the C:\Gtgdemo directory. Of course
- you may have it place the files wherever you like.
-
- b) Running the Demo
- Once installed, you can run the demo by double clicking
- on the gtdemo.exe file in the Gtgdemo folder. Again, the
- default location is C:\Gtgdemo but, if you chose a
- different location, look there.
-
- c) Starting a round of Golf
- Once you get past the opening screens, you will come to
- a screen called "How Many Players". From here you may
- start a 1, 2, 3, or 4-player game. You may also start
- up a game against a shadow player. (See shadow players)
-
- 2) Game play Issues
-
- a) Demo Speed/Resolution Issues
- Golden Tee Golf is meant to be played with a high frame
- rate. If you experience choppy animation, you are not
- getting the best experience possible. To increase the
- performance of this demo, there are several things you
- do from the "Game Settings" screen.
- * Lower the resolution (Screen Mode)
- * Turn off the (Fog)
- * Turn off the (Screen Softness)
- * Turn off the (Full Screen Approach) cam
- * Turn off the (Picture in Picture) cam
- Of course if you have the horsepower, turn these options
- on, and up as desired.
-
- b) Control Issues
- The mouse controls the golfer's swing. How you
- control the mouse affects how the ball is hit. For a
- tutorial of the different swings available, refer to
- the help screens. From within the demo press the [Esc]
- key to bring up the option screen. From there select
- "help" to bring up the help window.
-
- c) Keyboard Controls
- Here is a list of keyboard controls and hot keys.
-
- Select Club Arrow Keys Up/Down
- Turn player position Arrow Keys Left/Right
-
- Bring up options menu Esc
- Help F-1
- Image Softness F-2
- Fog F-3
- Resolution F-4
- Full Screen Approach F-6
- Picture in Picture Select F-7
- Mouse Sensitivity F-8
- Mouse Calibration F-9
- Switch to desktop Alt-Tab or Alt-Esc
-
- d) Joystick
- There is no need for Joystick support in Golden Tee
- Golf. Everything can be controlled with the keyboard
- and mouse.
-
- e) Sound issues
- This demo requires Direct X 5.0 or higher, without
- up to date drivers, the demo may not work properly.
- If you are having audio problems, and you have Direct
- X 5.0 installed, you should contact your audio card
- manufacturer.
- This demo is a work in progress and does contain
- some sound problems which we are currently working on.
- These includes:
-
- * Some of the sounds cutting out. (the
- announcer, the sound effects, or the
- ambient sounds)
- * Some of the sound effects may have a
- looping problem. This is where part
- of a sound is replayed over and over.
-
- f) Video Issues
- This demo requires Direct X 5.0 or higher, without
- up to date drivers, the demo may not work properly.
- If you are having video problems, and you have Direct
- X 5.0 installed, you should contact your video card
- manufacturer.
-
- 3) Options and Game settings
-
- a) Options Menu
- From within the demo you may open the Options menu by
- either clicking on the options button located on the
- bottom center of the screen, or by hitting the Esc key.
-
- b) Game Settings
- This will bring up a menu so that you may customize the
- demo to your preferred settings.
- Skill Level, Fog Density, Camera options, and Resolution.
-
- c) Help
- This will bring up a small window that shows you how to
- use the mouse with the demo. Here you can find out how
- to make those more difficult shots.
-
- d) Highlights
- This will play back the greatest shots currently saved.
- The demo will automatically prompt you to save any great
- shots made.
-
- e) Restart Course
- This will let you restart the current game with the
- same number of players on the same course.
-
- f) New Game
- This will let you go back to the setup screen so you
- can select another course or number of players.
-
- g) Quit
- This will let one or more players quit the demo. If
- there is only one player left in the game, this will
- quit the game and return the player to the Windows 95
- desktop.
-
- h) Play Alone
- This is a networking feature and will not be active
- for this demo.
-
- 4) Shadow Players
- Golden Tee Golf will record your game as you play.
- At the end of the course, you will have the option
- of saving your performance as a shadow game. You
- will then be able to replay that game as a second
- player. The recorded performance will play along
- side the active player. To play against a shadow
- game, select "Shadow Games" from the "How Many
- Players" screen, then highlight a shadow game by
- clicking on it, then load it by clicking on the
- "Load" button. (For this demo the delete feature
- is not functional)
-
- 5) Multi-player Games
- This 3-hole playable demo does not support multi-player
- games over a network. You can, however, play up to 4
- players on the same machine. The full release version
- does have network play capability over an internet or
- local area network.
